Velebit Nature Park is the largest protected area and the most important endemic hub of flora and terrestrial fauna in Croatia.

Within the nature park are these protected areas: Zavratnica Bay, Velnačka glavica, Hajdučki kukovi, Rožanski kukovi, Cerovačke pećine, Štirovača Special Forest Vegetation Reserve and Zavižan-Balinovac-Velika kosa Botanical Reserve.
